The Temple of the Phantom

Super Penguin went to the temple. The temple looked scary from the outside. It looked like a haunted house from the outside. Super Penguin went inside and found a skeleton on the floor. Blue aurora came out from his body. “I never should have gone in the temple. It shucked the life right out of me.!” Super penguin was even scared then before. He walked deeper and found a hourglass floating over a stand. Super penguin wondered what that was until the old guy ( has no name cause i didn’t bother to give him a name) came in an told super penguin what that was.” that there is the hourglass of neo-dauglus. he was the leader of the ocean and watched the town until the phantom killed him in the hourglass. Take the hourglass and it would protect you from the darkness.” Super Penguin went in the temple. Their were purple spots on the floor in the whole room. There was a guy surrounded by spikes. He was the the teams caption, Luigi. ” get me out of here!” Super penguin looked for a switch to activate the spikes. Their was a purple ball. Super penguin ran right up to it. Right then when super penguin was going to touch it a guy covered in armor came out. ” you would not touch this orb.” said the phantoms guard ” Who’s going to stop me.” The guard attacked super penguin but SP dodged it. Then he used his fists of fury and knocked him of. His armor came of and it was one of the baseball players. It was Baby Luigi! The spikes turned off and Luigi was free to go. Super Penguin went to Luigi and Luigi was happy to be free. To thank super penguin, Luigi joined team. Super penguin followed Luigi up stairs. When they went up stairs, they saw to of the phantoms guards. “Those guards most be more of your baseball players.” said super penguin. “they are?” said luigi. “yea they are.” said super penguin In order to get past them we have to distract them to pull the switch. Baby Luigi went up to the guard and the guard started to chase him. When he got close, Luigi kicked him really hard and knocked his armor off. It was baby DK. Luigi pulled the lever and the door opened. They all went to the next part of the room. Their were 3 guards blocking a lock with a eye on it.” i think we need a key for it?” said Luigi ” no duh!” said super penguin ” you don’t have to be mean” said Luigi, then they started to complain. ” Stop it now and free me from this ugly guard.”  said ? ” hey watch it buddy, i can scramble your face to make it look like those scary people!” said the guard. Yea you and your stories!” said ? ” never mind!” said the guard. ” who was that?” said luigi “(sercetly) Do those two boys ever talk?” said super penguin. ” not really.” said luigi. They went further into the floor and found the three guards blocking the key. Behind them was a mokey jumping around and some stairs that said boss. They went up to the guards and the guards….ran away! ” what are they doing.” said super penguin ” I don’t…..” said luigi ” HEY, INSTED OF TALKING YOU CAN GET ME OUT OF HERE! FIND THE KEY AND GET ME OUT OF HERE!” said the monkey “STOP SCREAMING AT ME OR I’LL MESS UP YOUR FACE MISTER!” said luigi “FIRST I AM A GIRL SO SHUT YOUR MOUTH UP!” said the monkey “STOP YELLING AT ME!!!!!!!!!!” said luigi. So much wind came out of his mouth that it broke the lock. “Thank you very much for breaking the lock.” said the monkey “My name is Dixie Kong. Up the stairs theirs Droom the master of fire. He is the ruler of this temple and who beat Neo-Dauglas” said dixie “Lets beat him at get back this temple!” said super penguin. “Yea!” said everybody. They all went up the stairs. There was torches on the edges of the floor. “Welcome. you are going to be defeated!” said Droom. He summoned 3 fire bats. “Go my pets, kill them!” said droom. The first bat attacked Luigi. Luigi kicked offline and missed. The bat hit him and Luigi got hurt. “Your lucky he didn’t bite you. All you got to do is what you do in baseball. When the bat comes hit them with your bat. Throw the baby’s at Droom.” said super penguin “ok” said everybody. The second bat attacked. Dixie got her bat out and swing for the bat. The bat went flying to the wall. When he hit it he didn’t get hurt. “You can’t kill my bats. Their unstoppable.” said Droom “How do we them?” said Luigi. “With this.” said ? and that person threw the boomerang at the bat. The bat went flying at the wall;and when he hit the Wall he got destroyed and someone came out. It was a green crocodile came out “I’m finally out!” “it took me so long to get out of that armor.” said the crocodile “first of whats your name and second WE GOT YOU OUT.” said luigi. “My name is Kritter.” said Kritter. “stop talking and fight for once.” said droom “Your not hurting anyone Droom!” said ?. “Who said that!” said droom “Me!” and someone came down and kicked droom. “Ow, that hurt!” said droom “I’m the greens swordsman master of the sword.” said the GS “Then why do you use a boomerang?” said Luigi “Because i use it!” said GS. The GS threw another boomerang at the two bats and they got killed. “Were free!” said two people “I’m King K. Rool.” said KKR. “I’m King Boo.” said KB. “everyone use the force!” said Super penguin! Blue aurora came out of everyone and aimed for Droom. “Ah!” said droom and he got sent into a million pieces into the air.

What happened to Mr. M? (Story below)

TechKnight! -by Mr. M

It was a bright sunny Saturday in New York City. I was going to Central Park to play my favorite game – chess. I gathered my chess set and took the subway to the city. I was sitting on the train practicing chess strategies on my portable computer until I arrived at my stop. I walked out of the train station and started jogging down towards the Chess and Checkers House in Central Park.

As I reached my destination, I started to notice a parade of people by The Chess House. People of all ages were playing peacefully and quietly. Mothers and fathers were on the sidelines watching their children play. I saw an empty seat at the very end of the circle and started approaching it. That’s when I realized why no one was sitting there. It was a little boy no more than five years old sitting with his mother. I wondered to myself if the child knew how to play chess, and then asked the boy, “Hey, how about we play a game of chess?” The boy hesitated and said, “I don’t know how to play chess.” I responded, “Well, want to learn? I’ll teach you the basics.” The boy agreed and I began to explain the goal of the game and how the pieces moved.

“Are you ready?” I asked. “I will give it a try,” the boy said. I went for the fastest checkmate possible, the Scholar’s Mate. I knew for sure he was going to fall for it and he did. I responded, “Sorry kid, that’s checkmate. Want to try again?” “No, we have to go, goodbye”, the boy and his mother disappeared before I could say anything else. I guess I would wait for another day before I played him again. I decided to look around for another opponent, but no one was around. The once jammed pack tables were empty. “Where did everyone go?” I asked myself.

I decided it was time to find competition elsewhere. I walked the path towards the exit and sensed that someone was following me. I could hear footsteps, branches and leaves crackling, but I didn’t see anyone around. I kept walking along the path faster with every step. “Hurry up, or it will be too late! Hurry!” someone shouted in the background. “Hurry for what?” I asked myself and continued to run towards the exit. I finally reached the exit, but the gates were locked. “What is going on? What am I going to do?” I started walking back and along the way I saw a sign posted on the zoo’s entrance that read: Mad Ape Escaped!

I continued to read the sign but it started getting dark quick. “That can’t be, it’s still early!” I said to myself. It was suddenly getting darker and I noticed that it wasn’t night approaching but a shadow of an ape. A gigantic crazy looking ape was right behind me and heading towards me to attack me. I took off running as fast as I could, leaving everything behind. I ran and ran but eventually it was futile, the crazy ape cornered me and lifted me up. It was over. I shouted “DON’T EAT ME!” I was a Curious George fan all my life and now an ape was going to eat me for dinner. The ape screamed as it kept a firm grip on me. I yelled “HELP!!!! SOMEBODY HELP!!” The ape crushed my head and bit my arm. I started to feel pain throughout my body. The ape’s grasp loosened and he was soon paralyzed too. A zoo ranger shot the ape in the nick of time. I was quickly rushed to the hospital.

In the emergency room, the doctors were trying to get me breathing and my heart beating. I was in critical condition. The doctors did not know the extent of the damage, but I was in a coma. I was placed in a CT scan to x-ray my complete body. I laid in the scanner motionless as I entered the machine. I could hear the doctors talking, “He stands a slim chance of recovering”, said one doctor, “He will be paralyzed for life and never live a normal life”, said another doctor. I started feeling scared, “What will I do with my life?” I asked myself. Then abruptly, during the scan, flashing red lights and loud sirens went off. Doctors evacuated the building leaving me in the scanner.

Fifteen minutes later, all of the doctors returned to the room. “The sensors detected high levels of radiation in the room, however it seems that there were no reasons for concern,” said one doctor. “It was probably a false alarm,” said the nurse. “Let’s take a look at the results of the CT Scan,” said the lead doctor. They discovered that I suffered severe damage to my eye, head, and arm. The lead doctor said “I have been working on an experimental project. It would require drastic measures and the use of technological implants and body parts” “Then, we better act fast. His brain will continue to swell and soon stop functioning!” said another doctor.

Did I have a choice? I was unable to move or speak. Questions and thoughts were running through my weakened mind. I was thinking what I would look like. I already had long arms, big feet, and a big head. So I guessed it couldn’t get any worse. Would I be able to move again? How would I use my robotic arms and eye? I worried even more about my intelligence, which I treasured the most. What if I was no longer the smartest? What I learned in life is you need to adapt to change to be successful.

The doctors conducted the intensive medical procedure and concluded the operation a success. What did that mean? I still laid on the hospital bed unable to move and felt pain throughout my body. I tried to look at myself but all I saw was the white ceiling above my head. I guess I was still recovering. I decided to test out my brain. I started thinking about solving math problems in my head. I couldn’t remember my times tables! I remained frozen and fell into a deep sleep.

In the middle of my sleep, I started to feel extremely sick, like I had a fever. Added to that was a sharp pain throughout my back. Then I started to feel strange, and a tingling sensation. Although I could not move, I could feel my body developing. “What is happening?” I asked myself. I could no longer sleep. I tried to move again and I was moving. “I CAN MOVE AGAIN!” I tried to do my times tables, and I was doing 4 digit multiplication in my head. “I AM SMART AGAIN!” Then, I thought to myself, “Was I dreaming?”

I walked out of the room and banged my head on the top of the exit. “OUCH!” I yelled. I usually don’t bump into the top of exit signs. “Oh great, I am dreaming!” Nevertheless, I continued to walk down the corridor. I reached the hospital cafeteria, and I saw a large number of doctors and nurses enjoying their meals. However, as I walked closer to the tables, the people stared at me and had a look of shock on their faces and then a look of fright. People then slowly got up from their seats and left the room. “What are they so shocked about? What do I look like?” I asked myself. I headed for the restroom so I could find a mirror.

“OUCH!” I bumped into the top of the doorway again. I was definitely not dreaming, my dreams usually didn’t hurt, and this was real. I looked into the mirror and saw … A giant ape with a robotic eye and arm. “What? I turned into a giant ape. This can’t be me! I have transformed into a monster,” I shouted. I started getting scared. “What am I? Who am I?” I was all covered in brown fur, and seemed to have numerous metallic components. I looked like a mutant ape. “I wondered I must have super powers! But what are my powers?” I said to myself. “Maybe I can become a super hero, but what will I call myself?” Then I thought to myself, “I better get out of here before they come back and put me in a cage.

I ran out the door making sure this time I ducked down. Outside, I was surrounded by doctors screaming “Get the monster!” I took a huge leap, and started running for the hospital exit. Boy! I was lightning fast! The doctors tried to lock me in by sealing off the exit doors and turning on the alarm. While running I saw a computer screen pop up in my head that allowed me to communicate with other computers in the room. “Wow. This is great, I can talk to computers!” This was one of my amazing new powers. I wondered what other powers I had. Mentally I requested that the computers opened the lock settings of the doors and then I took a step outside into in the world.

“Where will I go next? Where will I live?” I thought to myself. I needed to find a place I could afford and also not bring too much attention to myself. There was no way I could pay for an apartment in Manhattan, the business capital of the world. I could probably find a place in another part of the city, where there was crime and homelessness. New York City reminded me of a book I read when I was in Junior High School, a Charles Dickens’s classic, A Tale of Two Cities. There were people who lived in gorgeous buildings and mansions. However, there were plenty that lived in the projects and slums.
