Sonnet XLIII
- HOW do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
- I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
- My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
- For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
- I love thee to the level of everyday’s
- Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
- I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
- I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
- I love thee with the passion put to use
- In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
- I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
- With my lost saints, -I love thee with the breath,
- Smiles, tears, of all my life! – and, if God choose,
- I shall but love thee better after death.
- Elizabeth Barrett Browning
OZYMANDIAS
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shatter’d visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamp’d on these lifeless things,
The hand that mock’d them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains: round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
~Percy Bysshe Shelley ( 1819 )
In Egypt’s sandy silence, all alone,
Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws
The only shadow that the Desert knows:
“I am great OZYMANDIAS,” saith the stone,
“The King of Kings; this mighty City shows
“The wonders of my hand.” The City’s gone,
Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose
The site of this forgotten Babylon.
We wonder, and some Hunter may express
Wonder like ours, when thro’ the wilderness
Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace,
He meets some fragments huge, and stops to guess
What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in that annihilated place.
—Horace Smith.

Sonnet 38
How can my muse want subject to invent,
While thou dost breathe, that pour’st into my verse
Thine own sweet argument, too excellent
For every vulgar paper to rehearse?
O! give thy self the thanks, if aught in me
Worthy perusal stand against thy sight;
For who’s so dumb that cannot write to thee,
When thou thy self dost give invention light?
Be thou the tenth Muse, ten times more in worth
Than those old nine which rhymers invocate;
And he that calls on thee, let him bring forth
Eternal numbers to outlive long date.
If my slight muse do please these curious days,
The pain be mine, but thine shall be the praise.
Sonnet 55
Not marble, nor the gilded monuments
Of princes, shall outlive this powerful rhyme;
But you shall shine more bright in these contents
Than unswept stone besmear’d with sluttish time.
When wasteful war shall statues overturn,
And broils root out the work of masonry,
Nor Mars his sword nor war’s quick fire shall burn
The living record of your memory.
‘Gainst death and all-oblivious enmity
Shall you pace forth; your praise shall still find room
Even in the eyes of all posterity
That wear this world out to the ending doom.
So, till the judgment that yourself arise,
You live in this, and dwell in lover’s eyes.
Sonnet 19
Devouring Time, blunt thou the lion’s paws,
And make the earth devour her own sweet brood;
Pluck the keen teeth from the fierce tiger’s jaws,
And burn the long-liv’d phoenix, in her blood;
Make glad and sorry seasons as thou fleet’st,
And do whate’er thou wilt, swift-footed Time,
To the wide world and all her fading sweets;
But I forbid thee one most heinous crime:
O! carve not with thy hours my love’s fair brow,
Nor draw no lines there with thine antique pen;
Him in thy course untainted do allow
For beauty’s pattern to succeeding men.
Yet, do thy worst old Time: despite thy wrong,
My love shall in my verse ever live young.
Sonnet 87
Farewell! thou art too dear for my possessing,
And like enough thou know’st thy estimate,
The charter of thy worth gives thee releasing;
My bonds in thee are all determinate.
For how do I hold thee but by thy granting?
And for that riches where is my deserving?
The cause of this fair gift in me is wanting,
And so my patent back again is swerving.
Thy self thou gavest, thy own worth then not knowing,
Or me to whom thou gav’st it else mistaking;
So thy great gift, upon misprision growing,
Comes home again, on better judgement making.
Thus have I had thee, as a dream doth flatter,
In sleep a king, but waking no such matter.

Shakespeare’s sonnet 73 to its original in
Old English.
Sonnet 73
That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare ruin’d choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.
In me thou seest the twilight of such day
As after sunset fadeth in the west,
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death’s second self, that seals up all in rest.
In me thou see’st the glowing of such fire
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the death-bed whereon it must expire
Consumed with that which it was nourish’d by.
This thou perceivest, which makes thy love more strong,
To love that well which thou must leave ere long.

Another Summer Gone
Summer is gone. Now fall is coming. We have to work hard and study. Not like playing in the park. When summer was here, we woke up late and did anything we wanted. But know we have to do homework and do reports. When summer comes again I want to go to Mexico and visit my family.
Changing Classes
Changing classes is not that easy
as soon as the bell rings
students and classmates
are pouring out of classes
I charge through the tight halls
to get to my next class.
Which Lunch Table Do I Sit In?
Where do I sit
where do I fit
Nothings right
I can already tell
this will be a
puzzled year.
school
School is cool and I don’t know why. Maybe it has a pool in the summer. I wish other schools has. What a bummer. In spring I will build something with a tool and a make a stool. In winter I could go hibernating and drool. And in fall we make up our own rool (rule).

sonnet 38
I think is about a person who can’t write anything even if he argues a lot and calls himself excellent and thinking of a rhyme to write
Sonnet 38- I think it is a good poem and the words are a little difficult for me to understand. I understood some of the words that the poem had. I really liked all the poems, but they were hard to understand especially the Old English.
I think it’s about a man that wants to find his love so he wrote a poem so she could listen.
I think Sonnet 55 is about falling into the hands of death.
sonnet 38
I think it is about a person who doesn’t know what to write about so he wrote about what he was thinking at the moment.

These peoms are hard to understand since it is old english. But I think Sonnet 38 is about a manwho loves to write this person that hes in love with.
I really like the poem. It talk’s more about the seasons. It has alot of animals in the poem that I really like. The poem is very good.
Devouring time
I like the poem. I think it’s about lions, but the words are hard to understand.
I think the rhyme means to be thankful. Some of the words means another thing and trying to teach the old English. I think that that poem is very nice but, very hard.
I like sonnet 85 because it takes me away to something else.
Devouring time is I think about a lion with his paws touching the earth
and they pluck the lions sharp teeth and keep them.
maybe they were wrong in this poem
and they took it from the lions jaw.
I think it means that he lost his love for something and all the emotion he went through.
I think that sonnet 19 means that there was a boy that was in love with a girl.
I think that sonnet 19 is talking about a boy that was in love with a girl and they are growing older and older each day. They wanted to stay young forever and the boy said that as long as he is by her side, they will never grow old.
These poems are really bad at having reasons…. I can’t say anything and
MEGA!!!!!
I think that sonnet 19 is about a lion who loves a girl and the father of the girl told the lion to take out his teeth and claw to marry her but the lion listened to him and the father betrayed the lion and everything grows old.

I dont have time to play or chat.
I hope this christmas will be different.
when all the dust had cleared my home had become a mess
there was more junk and i could see the floor less.
The holiday season is over and spring cleaning has begun
I wonder when i will be done.
Maybe in a day or two
but what can a girl do?
Aunt Pretty came tonight
she gave me a present that was wrapped tight.
It was shaped like a square.
I set it down a chair.
Soon, I unwrapped the box.
The presents were socks.
I wanted to give the present back,
it was really whack.
when i was little i used to say ice
was nice.
one day i went to skate
and i discovered a new fate.
i got onto the ice and started to glide
with my friends beside.
i skate past people almost as happy as me
i skated proudly with glee.
i learned how to skate backwards and spin
i then fell on my chin.
i had to get a stitch or two
but what can i do.
there was an ice skating show
by aviater and co.
finally i got my own ice skates that were white
i felt greatful and bright
i like to write poetry
it relaxes me.
i have a wonderful time
writing poems that rhyme
the stars are very bright
they only come out at night
they light the sky so we could see
we are thankful as can be
people like to study stars even the stars on mars
there will be a fright night
tonight
i hope the vampires don’t bite
there are going to be monsters and goblins
its going to be a frightful sight
The sun was circling round the earth
since the day of your birth.
the sun never got tired
its rays just fired.
the sun is really hot
the sun is one of the stars that look like a dot.
the sun is in the middle of space
but you cant look at its face
you’ll go blind
you wont see whats in front or behind.
I am not from this school. I’m in high school. I came to this site while searching something else. I really like the things nk101 says.

♥ Where is my heart ♥
Where’s my heart when I need it the most? Where’s my heart when I want it close? Where is it when I feel lonely where is it when I’m upset? Why can’t I just have it near me every day, every night? What’s the problem when I feel nauseous or maybe even a little exhausted? My heart feels different when I talk to someone I know. I take down my fence when I’m with my friends and tell them things I don’t tell anyone else. Where’s my heart when I need it?
Candy
Candy comes in all different colors ~n~ flavors. There’s peppermint, orange, strawberry, chocolate and grape. They also come in so many different size and shapes. They have different companies which add a lot of sugar and I love sugar and sugar is so cool even though there’s so much bad stuff in it. =]
