Some people have a hard time affording games for the new systems like Xbox 360, or the Play Station 3, because the games are ranged around 50 dollars for the ones people think are the best. Well I’m here to prove those people wrong; I myself don’t like using my personal money to by something expensive right now, when I can get a better one, for a cheaper price. For example; those who like RPG games, I would prefer Fallout 3, it is an amazing game, but it costs $60, but then there’s another RPG game that costs half the price, and is just as good. Oblivion II is an RPG based game, with medieval times, and mythical creatures, you level up, get skills, sell stuff, buy stuff, everything an RPG is supposed to have. What if you are looking for a hardcore shooting game, first thing that comes to mind is maybe Call of Duty 4 or Call of Duty World at War, why spend about 40-60 dollars for those games, when you can get a game for around $20, with a longer story, more action, more everything, in this game you actually have to think. The game is “The Darkness” it’s a game based on a man working as a contract killer, on his 21rst birthday, he is being controlled by a demon called “darkness”. This demon gives him the power to extract two snake like tentacles, use them as a third eye, but if you stay to long in the light, the darkness would wear off. But you need an adult with you to purchase the game, or ask parental approval to actually play the game. With the extra money you save, save for future references, or even buy another game with the money you saved up.

As the successors of the great games Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow, Gold and Silver bring many new features from new Pokemon to new attributes. These games have set the standard for Pokemon games in the decade to come after. What could possibly make these games so great? Well, take a look.
Design: While the main concept of catching, trading, and evolving Pokemon is still intact, plenty of changes are in these pair of titles. First and foremost is the new region of Johto, a beautiful but small area with new gyms and new Pokemon. Second is the new Pokemon; while they’re known in and out today, they were completely new at the time. 100 new Pokemon were introduced to your Pokemon encyclopedia: the Pokedex and opened the doors for the National Pokedex, an upgraded version allowing the user to record info on Pokemon from other regions, like Kanto. After that is the day-night cycle and day-of-the-week, which can affect the Pokemon you see in certain areas. Then there’s the concept of breeding, which is putting a male and female Pokemon in the day-care and if they are compatible, they will produce an egg. This brings up the issue of Baby Pokemon, Pokemon that hatch in Johto, but evolved into Kanto Pokemon, like Pichu evolving into the famous Pikachu. One extra touch is after you beat the game, you can go to Kanto and explore that region with Johto, giving you more to do. There’s no need to mention the Gameplay as it’s exactly the same as all the other Pokemon RPG games out there.
Presentation: To today’s standards, Gold and Silver look horrible. At the time, they look better with the color upgrade from Red and Blue.
Overall: Pokemon Gold and Silver set the bar for other games to match up to and has every reason to be a success!
Score: 9.1
